Managing a digital estate.
My current remit includes managing domains and existing websites. I position that work as stewardship of a digital portfolio: understanding what the assets are for, where attention is needed and how the organisation presents itself online.
The mandate
Manage domains and existing websites. This is an ongoing management responsibility alongside project-based design work, rather than a single website launch.
The strategic perspective
A website is both an audience experience and an organisational asset. Looking across a portfolio brings a different set of questions into view: what purpose does each asset serve, which needs are most important, and how should existing properties evolve?
The scope of the work
My current responsibility spans domains and existing websites. The remit connects ongoing oversight of established digital assets with the quality of their public-facing experiences.
Management and craft
My design background helps me assess the experience people encounter. My management remit widens that view to the assets behind it. The contribution is the ability to connect those perspectives when considering what needs attention.
Continuity as a priority
The strategic value of asset management extends beyond delivery day. Existing websites continue to represent the organisation, and decisions about their direction remain part of the work.
The next questions
Which assets are most important to the organisation? Where does the audience experience need attention? What should continue, change or grow? These are the questions that turn website oversight into a strategic conversation.
Change the lens.
Look across the whole estate
Consider the purpose of domains and websites together, rather than judging each screen in isolation.
